Instrument Lessons - The Suzuki PhilosophyAs Suzuki teachers, we believe that the steps by which children learn their mother tongue can be used,
to great success, in learning music. These steps include:
Suzuki children learn in a positive environment created by the Suzuki teacher in the studio and fostered at home by the Suzuki parent. The Suzuki approach relies on the cooperative relationship of teacher, parent and child centered around a pleasant yet disciplined enterprise. Parent ParticipationParents are an integral part of the Suzuki method. They attend all lessons, group classes and recitals, and assist with home practice. |
Just as all children learn to speak their native language fluently, all children can learn to play a musical instrument. |

Suzuki Lessons
Parent and child attend weekly individual and bi-monthly group lessons together. Before enrolling, students and parents observe at least 3 lessons in their chosen instrument plus one group class when possible. Lesson FormatParents of beginning students first attend 4 weeks without the child to begin study of the instrument and the Suzuki philosophy of learning. Parent supervises at-home practice and creates a music learning environment in the home. Group ClassesPlaying with and for others is a valuable motivational tool for children in a Suzuki program. Violin and cello group classes are primarily playing classes. Piano group classes combine playing and the exploration of the language of music through song, games, rhythm and movement activities. Please see our tuition for more information on fees and family discounts. PerformancesMoorestown School of Music offers regularly scheduled formal and informal performances.
